I have to apologize (yet again) for not posting very often, but things has been pretty busy for me lately. The 26th was the kid’s first birthday party. A good time was had by all. On Tuesday morning of the following week, I left for Marco Island Florida for a computer security conference that lasted until Thursday. That got me home with enough time to pack for 2 weeks in the U.K.
Left DC last Saturday night and arrived on Sunday morning. A quick drive up the A1 got us to the picturesque village of Alconbury, in the heart of England. This is where most of the Mighty 8th Air Force was based during the War. The airfield where we are staying was home to the first B-24 Liberator squadron based in England, and the base where we are working was home to the first B-17 to complete 25 missions.
I miss the Wife and Kid, but the first thing I did when I got here was to put pictures in the mirror, so I get to see them every morning and every night.
I’ll have more to post when I get back (including pictures). The Wi-Fi here is sorry, so I have limited connectivity. I know, wah, wah, wah. Life is so hard here. On TDY in the UK, the weather is absolutely perfect (sunny and 75 every day so far), and my main complaint is that the Wi-Fi at the BOQ is slow. We should all have it this rough.
Did I mention the per diem?
Better not rub it in…
